Sagarmatha/Chomolungma (SC)

Rules and Guidelines:

  1. The Claimant (company claiming leadership in a specific category) must be incorporated in an Asian country (and a legal entity in Asia).
  2. Currently the categories recognized by SC are: sales by value (in USD), sales by quantity in any specific product/application.
  3. The Claimant must be the worldwide leader (World No. 1) in the category applied for.
  4. The minimum sales value required to make a claim for any category is USD 50m per year.  USD has been chosen as the currency because it is the world reserve currency and the choice of any other Asian currency may appear biased.
  5. A claimant will be encouraged to make a claim for multiple categories in which it is the world No.1.
  6. Each claim will be separately submitted to SC.
  7. The Claimant must provide evidence to support its claim.  The evidence must be public domain information.  Additionally, the Claimant must submit its audited annual report.
  8. SC may ask for additional data if submitted data is not found adequate.
  9. On the basis of data submitted by the Claimant, SC will decide whether to accept the claim.
  10. If SC accepts the claim, then it will host an A4 size page on its web-site dedicated to the claim and the Claimants corporate information.
  11. The Claimant will pay a fee of $200 for having the claim evaluated by SC.
  12. Any claim that is accepted will require the claimant to pay a further $100 to have his page hosted on the SC web-site.
  13. The page will be hosted for a period of one year.
  14. After the year is over, the claimant will let the claim lapse or will provide fresh evidence to prove that the Claimant is still the leader in that category.  The claimant must complete this process in the month before the year ends.  The claim renewal fee will be $100.  A further hosting fee of $100 for the next year will also be charged.
  15. The SCMC will meet/teleconference once a month to discuss claims and other issues.
  16. It will be the responsibility of the Local MOs to identify and motivate candidate companies in their countries to apply.
  17. The secretariat will be responsible to administer the web-site, maintain accounts, forward claims to the SCMC for evaluation, and provide administrative support to the SCMC.
  18. Any appeals against a claim will be forwarded to the Secretariat by the local MOs.  The web-site will be used by the appellant to file the appeal, which will be forwarded by the web-site software to the local MO.  The local MO will analyze and verify the appeal data.
  19. The Secretariat will forward the appeals to the SCMC for consideration.
  20. The decision by the SCMC on the appeal will be forwarded by the secretariat to the local MOs for communication to appellant and Claimant.
  21. If the appeal is found to be genuine the Claimant’s web page will be removed and the hosting fee of $100 refunded, if the Claimant asks for a refund.
  22. The web-site will carry a disclaimer regarding the veracity of the information provided by the claimant.
