Being informed by Mr. J K Bajaj about the retirement of Ms. Ma Lin,
CAQ, from ANQ Board Members, let me share the dedications of Ms. Ma
Lin to ANQ with all of you.
ANQ was started based on Asian Quality Symposium (AQS). AQS was
organized by KSQM, CSQ and JSQC. As I described in the message
of my retirement of ANQ Chairperson which is uploaded in the
following URL: http://www.anforq.org
"At the steering committee of the 15th AQS 2001 Daejeon, Korea,
hosted by KSQM in November, 2001, Dr. Chih-han Wang, President
of CSQ, made a proposal to expand the AQS to the quality
symposium of all Asian countries and to establish an Asian
organization for quality. His proposal was immediately accepted
by Dr. Sung H. Park, President of KSQM and Dr. Noriaki Kano,
President of JSQC.
I understood that it was a duty for JSQC, the host organization
of the 16th AQS, 2002, Tokyo to act on this proposal."
In any case, it was unthinkable to organize Asian Organization for
quality without participation of China. Therefore, I took the two
steps of actions such as:
- Invite CAQ to join AQS
- The four organizations such as CAQ, CSQ, JSQC, and KSQM
appeal to the other Asian quality organizations for
organizing new quality organization in Asia
In order to get the aggreement with the above policy, I visited
CSQ and KSQM. After their agreement, I flew to Beijing to meet
Ms. Ma Lin, Secerary General and Vice President of CAQ. She kindly
spared her time although my visit was made with just one week
noticement. She immediately understood the significance of Dr.
Wang's proposal and expressed her personal agreement. However,
she frankly mentioned the existence of some political issues
to realize this idea but promised me to do her best. After
this visit, we have exchanged mails and faxes. She did a great
exertions.
As described in the above retirement message,
"All the leaders of the three organizations were so cooperative
from the long range and global viewpoints that we managed to
finalize the details of revising our AQS agreement at the end
of June and to hold a tentative AQS Steering Committee meeting
in order to formally approve the affiliation of CAQ with AQS on
27 July 2002."
Let me confess that I had been so nervous before seeing the face of Ms.
Ma Lin in the morining of 27 July 2002. When I saw her at the entrance
of JUSE building, I was convinced that this project would be successful.
She was a really key person for ANQ. I did not know how much she did
the exertions to realize the today's ANQ because she is too modest to
talk about her efforts.
Second, Ms. Ma Lin dedicated to ANQ by hosting the First ANQ Congress
in September 23-25, Beijing, China, 2003. As you might remember, we
had a serious problem of SARS in Asia in the spring of this year.
This gave the great impact to the possibility of the congress. I remember
that we frequently talked by phone. I was very impressed with her
strong will to held the congress. As you might remember, this congress
was very successful due to the excellent works by CAQ by her leadership.
Our wish started from Dr. Wang's proposal was realized after two years
later. Ms. Ma Lin did it.
In addition to the above, she has done various contributions to ANQ.
As the honorary chairperson who knows about the past, let me express
my sincere praise and gratitude to Ms. Ma Lin for her Dedication to
ANQ.
All of us are missing Ms. Ma Lin. However, she has just retired from
the Board Member. We know that she is still and will be active
as a quality expert. We are looking forward to seeing her at
ANQ Congress in future.
At the same time, let me express my great expectations to
Mr Qi Wei Ming, Secretary General, CAQ, as a new member of ANQ
Board. I have been acquainted with him for several years. He has
been to my home. He is a very smart and decisive gentleman. I
believe that Mr. Qi will outstandingly contribute to ANQ. |
In an earlier letter sent by Dr. Kano, he expressed his high praise and gratitude to Ms. Ma Lin at the time of her retirement as a board member of ANQ. Along with the letter, all of us have revisited the history of ANQ and reviewed the contributions by Ms. Ma Lin and all the colleagues from CAQ under her leadership.
As one of the earliest member organizations of ANQ, CAQ made dedicated effort to support ANQ activities whenever and wherever they are needed, even with certain difficulties and obstacles. On behalf of KSQM, I would like to deliver my heartful appreciations to Ms. Ma Lin for her potent leadership and profound commitment to ANQ. Sincerely hope that Ms. Ma Lin will still be one of us in any of the ANQ activities in the future.
At the same time, I would also express my welcome to Mr. Qi Weiming as a new member of ANQ Board. I am sure that Mr. Qi will contribute to ANQ with his vigorous leadership of CAQ.
