| Appreciation messages from Members of ANQ on the farewell Prof. Kano |
We would like to express our appreciation for the efforts you have made to
draft the thanks message on retiring from the position of Chairman of ANQ.
It is really a comprehensive review of the history of ANQ and can surely
deepen people’s understanding of the significance of ANQ.
Our special gratitude goes to you for the support you have provided for the
work of CAQ. It is really a pleasure to work with you. We look forward to

After receiving your wonderful “Thanks Message on Retiring as Chairperson of Asian Network
for Quality (ANQ)”, we all here at Nepal are encouraged more for working towards this value of
quality useful for all humankinds. I remember the whole day I have spent with you to buy one
picture of Mt. Everest in art galleries of Kathmandu, when you finally decided to buy the
landscape painted by the famous Nepalese painter Lain Singh Bangdel. I personally like to
mention here that I learned and applied TQM philosophy from Prof. Hitoshi Kume and you,
Prof. Noriaki Kano, whom I think the world remembers as the left and right hands of Prof.
Ishikawa. I could not get chance to get direct in touch with Prof. Ishikawa, but he is always in
my heart and soul. Sensei, you are my mentor, specially when I am starting to do research with
your methodology on human traits and personality. I like to do scientific enquiry on the human
traits using your methods.
I hope the Network for Quality, Productivity and Competitiveness Nepal (NQPCN) will get the
opportunity to join the Asian Network for Quality with your support and encouragement.
We came to know you have retired from the position of chairman but you can not retire from
the job of adding values in human life through quality. With your advises and initiation many
people has to learn and the Asian society has to benefit.
Thank you once again, sensei.

Your thoughtful message narrates the history of AQS and ANQ and also suggests
the way forward. Formation of ANQ under your dynamic leadership is an important
milestone in the journey of quality movement in Asia. It could only be done with your
dedicated effort spread over 25 years of building relationships and encouraging
people in different parts of Asia.
Your mention of Prof. Ishikawa is so touching and reminds me of my first meeting
with Prof. Ishikawa who was so knowledgeable and yet so humble that he became a
role model and an inspiration to so many. I am sure Prof. Ishikawa would be so
proud of your achievement. Your enthusiasm, energy and guidance would still be
needed to nurture and grow ANQ to its rightful place.
On behalf of ISQ and on my own behalf I thank you for your leadership in the
formative years of ANQ. We look forward to your continued guidance and support at
ANQ.

With kind regards,

Your inspiring message demonstrated your great efforts and contributions in the building up of
ANQ and the advancement of quality movement in Asia. Under your dynamic leadership ANQ
has transformed into a regional fraternity for quality that is comparable to ASQ in USA and
EOQC in Europe.
The crafted guidance for the succeeding leaders of ANQ will ensure continuity and success for
the network. Many Asian countries, therefore, will benefit through the networking and sharing
of the latest quality-related knowledge and technology.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation of your effortless leadership and continuous
support, especially through your last visit to Singapore to encourage us to join the ANQ Board.
A renowned quality professional with wide knowledge of quality practices in Asia countries,
your technical expertise in quality will sure be sought after your retirement as Chairperson of
ANQ.
Lastly, we would like to express our sincere gratitude and thanks for your support in the past for
SQI. We wish you the best in your future endevours.

us, Asian people, by Asian way.

It is a very stirring letter, and one befitting the tremendous contribution you have
personally made to the advancement of the Quality Movement in Asia. You have
definitely taken great effort to craft this letter, which in itself is a short history of AQS
and ANQ. This piece of work would come in handy as a guiding document for
succeeding generations of leadership.
We first met in the third quarter last year, but as your reputation had preceded you, I
seemed to have the impression that I have known you for a long while. Even as you
step down from one position, I have no doubt that you would continue to contribute
your expertise and experience to the advancement of Quality in Asia; putting this
growing region of the world shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of ASQ and EOQ.
We look forward to your continued goodwill and guidance.
On behalf of the Executive Council, Management, Staff and Members of the
Singapore Quality Institute, let me say a big thank you to a Giant in the Quality
Profession.
