Chairperson’s Message

 Dear Friends,

The year 2009 has seen some of the worst economic turmoil in over 80 years with adverse impact on the life of millions of people around the World. The effect in Asia has been more severe because of high number of poor people who typically suffer the most in such circumstances. Thankfully coordinated response from the leaders around the world helped in containing the slide, mitigating the impact and starting the recovery process. The role played by the political, economic and business leaders from Asia has been significant in the start of the gradual recovery from the Economic Meltdown.

More and more people are talking and thinking about the need for balance between human activity and the nature as fundamental to the long term wellbeing of the society. This is one positive development as a lesson learnt for long term prosperity. The challenge for the professionals from the quality background is to build on this change in thought process to prevent slipping back to the old ways and to develop new ways to harness this energy for the well being of the society and its environ.

Another significant factor is that Asian economies are leading the process of recovery. Obviously good foundation of quality management has made it possible. It is recognized the recovery is at a nascent stage and it still needs a well coordinated effort from all stakeholders to sustain it and then direct it to a more sustainable path.

ANQ has played its role well in 2009 to build momentum in its activities through various new initiatives and some of these are as follows:

Larger participation from all members at the ANQ Congress Tokyo 2009 in terms of attendance and presentations was significant.

Conduct of Regional Congress at Dhaka for South Asian members with good participation was commendable.

Start of the ANQ Newsletter to share experiences has been appreciated by members

More and more non board members participation in various projects through committees is creating involvement

Recognition of members for their contribution has been a motivating force

The New Year in 2010 has arrived with hope and could be used for consolidation and growth of Asian economy and prosperity. ANQ as an organization is committed to play its role for development of industry through promotional activities for the research and development of philosophy, theory, methodology and application in the field of quality and quality management as outlined in its Founding Statement issued in 2002.

May I look forward to your continued support through active participation in development of new ideas and application of what we know to play our part for the rapid economic development?

I take this opportunity to wish you, your colleagues and families a New Year that is vibrant, purpose full and joyous while making our contribution in cooperative endeavour for bringing cheer to millions of lives following the ANQ Way.

With warm regards,
